How to prevent toooth decay naturally? IThe British Medical Journal published a study suggesting that by changing a diet, tooth decay can be reversed. All you have to do is follow some simple habits. However, keep in mind that there is a limit to doing anything naturally. You should always visit your dentist frequently.
Reversing cavities naturally
Tooth decay is very bad and extremely unattractive for people of all ages. However, once a tooth destroyed with cavities cannot bring the tooth back to its original position, can it? Following are some of the ways you can take care of your cavity problem:
1. Diet
Your normal diet might consist of foods containing lots of sugar or fats. All these things cause you tooth decay. Sugar is definitely an obvious villain while fats are too because of their harmful oils. Hence reduce the intake of sugary stuff and increase the fibers and proteins. You’ll notice a change in your teeth in a span of few days.
2. Consume dairy products
Dairy products contain calcium and calcium is the one item you need in excess for your body. Milk, butter, yogurt etc. all contain calcium. And you are well aware of the importance of calcium for teeth, bones and the rest of the body. Hence consume your calcium daily in the form of milk, yogurt cream or anything else.
3. Vitamins
Consume as many vitamins as you can. Vitamin A, C, D and B are very useful for the body hence digest food which contains these in bulk. Vitamin D in some ways acts like calcium, beneficial to the bones and teeth so consume it as much as you can or at least every day for a few weeks.
4. Saliva
Saliva is a natural substance used to remove the unwanted bacteria and germs out of your mouth. But while salivating process occurs naturally, if it is increased from its usual form then it can slowly get rid of the cavities for you.
But how will you increase the saliva?
Well saliva can be increased by eating lots of fruits, particularly apple and banana which causes your mouth to salivate more than usual and eventually gets rid of the cavity!
5. Toothbrush
Change your toothbrush regularly and after having it wet, leave it to dry in open air. Also, keep it in your room instead of the bathroom.
6. Floss and mouthwash
Simply brushing your teeth with a toothbrush isn’t enough. In order to get rid of the cavity, you have to floss and mouthwash too. This removes the hidden food particles and bacteria.
7. Coconut oil
Coconut oil pulling is a great method to pull bacterias away, and prevent tooth decay.
Here it is how can you do it: First, spread coconut oil evenly on your teeth and keep it there for a few minutes. Your saliva will turn the oil into milky substance which will help you to prevent caries.
Although this method does not reverse cavities, it is a really good way to complement your mouth hygiene.
8. Natural toothpaste
Use your own homemade natural toothpaste for a few weeks made from calcium powder, stevia, coconut oil, baking soda and sea salt. Make a paste out of it and use it for a couple of weeks. Don’t deprive yourself of fluoride for a longer period of time though as it too can cause problems. Better is to keep two days for your normal toothpaste and then shift to the natural one for the rest of the week.
Although this homemade toothpaste is natural and not harmful for your health, it is abrasive so avoid using it more than 30 days.
